08/05/2012 – Conway’s Got Talent at the Brick Room in Conway, Arkansas
This was a VERY full night of competition and was also VERY entertaining. I enjoyed being the Comedic MC for such a great event like this and any event that showcases talent and art in Arkansas. The event was held at The Brick Room (Formerly known as the Ford Center) in Conway, Arkansas. TDRC Productions (www.TDRCProductions.com) produced the show and did a superb job in doing so. Radio What (http://www.RadioWhat.com), Just Try it Karaoke (www.facebook.com/JustTryItKaraoke), and LolliPop Photography (www.LolliPopFP.com) were in the house making the show even that much more AWESOME!
The show started out with me getting on stage getting the crowd ready for the entertainment onslaught of talent to follow. The show ranged from Singers, Bands, Dancing, and even included Magic. There is INCREDIBLE talent in the state of Arkansas and I know this show was only a mere fraction. I was mesmerized by some of the vocals and speechless from the hula-hoop dancing
The judges were some of the most honest and straight forward judges I think I have ever been part of a show with. They provided all kinds of feedback and opinions that some contestants and audience didn’t agree with. However, knowing the truth is how we get better and grow our abilities. The Judges that included Justin Holmes, Ashton Taylor, Anita Dickey (with Sidekick Michelle Holmes) all have entertainment backgrounds ranging over several years. The Judges had a VERY difficult job selecting between who won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, but they got the job done. Yes, I did mess with the audience, the contestants, and the Judges… hey, I got to be me.
It takes a LOT of courage to get on stage, so I applaud all of the contestants that were part of the show. The contestants included Jessica and The MacDaddy’s, Jay Nice, Jessycat, Zach Abbott and Laken Koonce, Kenneth Dickerson, Rance Huggins, Katie Keck, Wylenna Johnson, Emily Moore, Scott-Dini Magic, Syndrome
The winners were:
1st Place – Wylenna Johnson (Solo Singer) – Won $1000
2nd Place – Kattie Wilson (Hula-Hoop Dancer) – Won Music Lessons for 1 Month (Conway Institute of Music)
3rd Place – Jessica and The Mack Daddy’s (Musical Band)
